Technological advancement has created a conducive environment that supports efficient patient care. Today changes in nursing are depicted through extensive nursing programs, health care setting, growing responsibilities, nursing culture, as well as patient care saving many lives (Roche, Duffield, Friedman, Twigg, Dimitrelis & Rowbotham, 2016). Initially, nursing had nothing to do with formal medical training or anything to do with your gender and willingness to do the job. The above is because originally women learned their medical skills from mothers or other women in the same profession. Currently nursing programs are extensive, more diversified staffs that comes with a higher level of prestige for the profession.

Key leader that has contributed to revolutionizing nursing is Florence Nightingale. She led a group of female nurses to the Crimean war to deliver nursing service to British soldiers. Upon her return to England, Florence successful conventional nurse education programs in several British hospitals. The school were organized based on how nurses should be trained called “Nightingale principles.” In addition, it is important to identify the importance of good nursing care to patient wellbeing.
